We’ve all been there, you need directions and pull up Google Maps, it gives you directions to a client’s home that are either out of the way by miles or simply aren’t the most logical route. Unfortunately, attorneys are always using Internet mapping services such as MapQuest, Yahoo Maps and Google Maps to find the location of depositions, clients, or accident scenes. Up until now we have been stuck with what these services had to offer which more often than not result in 30 minute trips taking 45 minutes. Google Maps has sought to remedy this problem by offering customized routes to Google Maps abilities.
The new feature is incredibly simple to use. Simply route a starting point and destination, then use your mouse to grab a point on the directions line (normally blue) and drag it to a new location on the map. Google Maps will change the route to include the roadway where you dragged the directions line to and immediately update the text directions.
Check out Google’s video explaining how to use the new feature. Obviously when this is used in conjunction with the traffic view, this feature is VERY cool and time-saving.
