Being a personal injury attorney, I could not pass up this great tip I received from a fellow PI attorney. Apparently the Louisville Metro Police Department is now offering collision reports online.
The site supports pre-paid accounts as well as online payment by credit card for the $5.00 fee.
Reports are available within ten days from the collision in most instances and after asking other users of the site, the average time is actually only three days. I know every other attorney I mention this too is excited about the ability to have these available online, removing the necessity of having a runner fetch these all important documents.
Hopefully this will be a growing trend with local police departments around the country. After all, if Kentucky has it now, you should be able to get video of the actual collision in the more technologically advanced states.
*Thanks to Will Nefzger for the tip
