ScanSnap Profiles – Scanning to Folder in Snow Leopard

UPDATE: Make sure you are running the latest version of ScanSnap Manager v. 22L11. You can download it from Fujitsu here.

So a lot of Mac users who use a Fujitsu ScanSnap are having problems once upgrading to Snow Leopard. The main problem seems to be the upgrade breaks the ability to scan to a folder from the Quick Menu. While there is a workaround to the problem, we’ve found that not using the Quick Menu and using Profiles to scan to a folder is not only a fix to the problem, it’s the most efficient way of scanning your documents.

Larry Port, co-founder of RocketMatter, mentioned this tip and there were a lot of questions on Twitter asking how to set up these profiles. So since I can’t attend MILOfest due to my ankle, I decided to create a quick screencast showing you how to set up profiles in the ScanSnap Manager so you can go back to scanning to folders like a pro. I hope this helps everyone. You may download a higher resolution version here.

This is a helpful screencast. Thank you.

I have updated to the latest version (ScanSnap_V22L12_S510M_S500M_S300M.dmg), but for some reason my interace looks different from yours:

As you can see from the screenshot, it doesn't have the profile pulldown menu at the top. The icon in my dock is even looks different (and less slick):

Where did you get your nifty version of this scansnap manager? And what does it say in your About pane?

Thank you again for this helpful contribution.

I solved my problem. After clicking on the link in my own comment I noticed the words “Quick Menu Mode” at the top of the screenshot–I hadn't followed your instructions to turn off the Quick Menu first. So I now have access to the profile feature. Even better, Fujitsu must have watched your screencast because they built in a number of nifty profiles, as you can see here (I added Aperture but the rest came a preset profiles):

Thanks again for your post, and sorry for my mistaken question in the previous comment.

Thanks for the vid. I too however would like to know where you got your version of ScanSnap Manager as the one you link to is different (ugly) and has no OCR settings.
