Creating a Transparent Digital Signature for PDF's

This weeks tutorial will focus on creating a transparent digital signature for your PDF’s so that your signature is on your document or pleadings you digitally file in Federal Court. I have found that many lawyers have a strong desire to actually have their signature on their PDF documents and will go to great lengths to do so.

This of course entails printing your document, signing it, scanning the document back into your computer and then filing it. The problem with this method is that it creates very large documents which easily exceed the 2 MB file size limitation imposed by the Electronic Case Filing (ECF) system.

There is a better and easier way to achieve your signature on your pdf’s. This tutorial will assume that you have already signed a piece of paper, scanned it into your computer and saved it as a .TIFF file. If you need help creating the PDF, see my previous tutorial on creating PDF’s from your Word documents. These tutorials have all been in preparation for my upcoming tutorial on filing a document in the Federal Court’s Electronic Case Filing (ECF) system.
