DMV Record Search for Free

Progressive Insurance Company

As a Plaintiff’s attorney I often find it necessary to know the vehicles owned by someone. Usually this involves checking with the county clerk of the county where the vehicles are registered and hoping they will provide me the information.

Now there’s an easier way.

Thanks to Progressive Insurance Company, anyone can go to their website, request a quote using the zipcode of your “target”, input the target’s name and address and viola, all of the vehicles registered to that address are presented to you as options to insure.

Yes this is public record but it’s never been quite that easy to obtain…try it out and enjoy.

Not that it helps much, but if you’re willing to pay the LexisNexis costs, or if your client is ok with being billed at biglaw costs, you can do a Personal search there (I forget the name) that includes drivers records. Theres one that specifically checks vehicle registrations and such, and then there is another one that lets you crossreference the registrations with their name, address, social, etc.

This really works. I checked my information and it was correct.
